RINA is currently recruiting for a Railway Senior System Engineer to join its office in Abu Dhabi within the Electronics and Systems Engineering Division.
Mission
The Railway System Engineer is responsible for designing, integrating, and optimizing railway systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role involves system-level thinking, covering rolling stock, signaling, infrastructure, power supply, and communication systems.
Key Accountabilities
System Design & Architecture
Defining and managing railway system requirements, system architecture, interaction between subsystems (rolling stock, signaling, tracks, power supply).
Selecting appropriate technologies and configurations for new rail projects.
System Integration
Ensuring interoperability between different railway subsystems, interfaces between rolling stock, signaling, and infrastructure.
Validating system compatibility across national and international railway networks (e.g., ERTMS, CBTC, PTC).
Performance Optimization
Enhancing railway system efficiency in terms of capacity, energy consumption, and operational reliability.
Verification & Validation
Ensuring railway systems adhere to the performance and characteristics required by the project requirements, standards, laws, …
Defining and monitoring the execution of the V&V plan
Lifecycle Management
Managing railway system upgrades and modernization projects.
Supporting asset management and maintenance planning to maximize system longevity.
Digitalization & Smart Rail Technologies
Implementing IoT, AI, and Big Data solutions for predictive maintenance and automation.
Working with Digital Twin, Remote Monitoring, and Smart Signaling technologies.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Transport Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
Qualifications
- Rolling Stock (Locomotives, EMUs, DMUs, High-Speed Trains)
Signaling Systems (ETCS, CBTC, PTC, Interlocking)
Electrification (25kV AC, 750V DC, 3kV DC systems)
Working with V-Model, Agile, or Waterfall methodologies.
Managing large-scale railway system deployment projects.
