Job Description

A Radiographer, also known as a Medical Imaging Technologist, plays a crucial role in the healthcare sector by using imaging techniques to capture images of patients' bodies to help doctors diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries. Working most often in hospitals, clinics, or diagnostic imaging centers, radiographers ensure high-quality imaging while prioritizing patient safety and comfort. They operate sophisticated medical imaging equipment like X-rays, CT scanners, or MRI machines. They must possess strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and other healthcare professionals. Continuous learning about new imaging technologies and adherence to safety protocols are vital aspects of this role to ensure the best patient outcomes.


Responsibilities

  • Operate various medical imaging equipment safely and efficiently following clinical protocols.
  • Prepare and position patients correctly to ensure high-quality diagnostic imagery.
  • Maintain clear and accurate imaging records in compliance with legal and health standards.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to explain imaging procedures and address their concerns.
  • Collaborate with medical professionals to analyze imaging results and assist in diagnosis.
  • Monitor equipment performance and report any malfunctions or required maintenance.
  • Ensure proper use of radiation safety measures to protect patients and staff.
  • Review patient history and physician instructions to ensure tailored imaging procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in radiography technology and imaging practices.
  • Manage patient records with confidentiality and adhere to healthcare legislation.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs to maintain high standards of care.
  • Train and guide junior radiography staff and collaborate in team-based healthcare settings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Radiography or related medical imaging field required.
  • Valid radiography license .
  • Strong proficiency in operating and maintaining various imaging machines and software.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.
  • Ability to follow strict procedures and protocols ensuring patient and staff safety.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a clinical radiography setting preferred.
  • Commitment to continuous education and up-to-date knowledge of imaging technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality.
