Job Description

As a QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment) Officer, you play a critical role in managing and maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental practices within an organization. Your primary objective is to ensure that the company's operations comply with government regulations and industry best practices regarding health, safety, and environmental policies. You will develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures to promote safe and healthy working conditions, assess risks, and determine protective measures. Additionally, you will be responsible for training staff, conducting audits, and leading investigations into incidents, ensuring that preventative measures are put in place to minimize future risks. This position demands a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement in the areas of safety and quality management.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive QHSE management systems and procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all QHSE-related matters.
  • Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses in the workplace.
  • Analyze incident reports, metrics, and injury case studies to identify root causes.
  • Provide guidance and support to teams to promote a culture of safety and quality.
  • Ensure training programs are conducted and updated for all employees regularly.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records according to QHSE compliance standards.
  • Develop emergency response plans and coordinate drills to test readiness.
  • Communicate effectively about QHSE issues and initiatives to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Monitor and report on performance, providing insights for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and participate in audits conducted by authorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Safety Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a QHSE-related role or similar capacity.
  • Strong understanding of QHSE regulations and governmental standards in your industry.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills to lead and influence teams.
  • Proficiency in using QHSE management software and tools is highly desirable.
  • Certification in occupational health and safety, like NEBOSH or IOSH, is preferred.
