Role Title: Manager, Finance Analytics (L09)

Role Summary/Purpose
This position is a part of the Finance Centre of Excellence organization which provides support to Synchrony Financial - Finance Function. The Manager directly supports their assigned area(s) with all matters pertaining to financial operations management. This includes financial reporting and analysis, financial planning and forecasting, with an emphasis on process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain complex data models and reporting solutions using SAS, Python, and other analytical tools.
- Handle large datasets efficiently, ensuring data integrity, quality, and accuracy in all reporting and analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather business requirements and translate them into technical specifications for data solutions.
- Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) operations on large datasets from multiple sources.
- Build automated reporting dashboards and ad-hoc reports to support business decision-making.
- Analyze large volumes of structured and unstructured data to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
- Optimize existing code and queries to improve performance and scalability.
- Document processes, methodologies, and analytical findings clearly and effectively.
- Stay updated with latest data analytics trends and best practices to continuously improve analytics capabilities.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Statistics/Finance/Data Science along with 4-7 years of professional experience in data analytics or data science roles or in lieu of a degree 6 -9 years of professional experience in data analytics.
- Strong proficiency in SAS (Base SAS, SAS Macro, PROC SQL) and Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with large-scale data handling, including data wrangling, cleaning, and manipulation.
- Solid experience in reporting tools and techniques; experience with dashboard tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
- Expertise in SQL and working with relational databases.
- Familiarity with statistical modeling, predictive analytics, or machine learning is desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in team environments.
- Strong communication skills to effectively present technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desired Characteristics
- Outstanding verbal and written communications skills.
- Experience in Hyperion-Essbase is preferred.
- Prior experience in SAS is required
- Advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word experience
- Applicants must have experience in financial reporting and analysis.
- Most prior experiences in a services oriented captured business environment preferred – other experiences in KPO may also be preferred.
- Prior position in India supporting a senior leader preferred
- Prior experience mirroring US operating hours preferred.
- Knowledge of firm’s systems is a plus.
Eligibility Criteria
Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Statistics/Finance/Data Science along with 4-7 years of professional experience in data analytics or data science roles or in lieu of a degree 6 -9 years of professional experience in data analytics.
Work Timings
This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
