The Procurement and Contracts Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating procurement operations to ensure the timely, cost-efficient, and quality acquisition of goods and services that support business objectives. This role involves supervising a team, negotiating with suppliers, and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners. Responsibilities
Oversee the end-to-end procurement process, ensuring timely creation of purchase orders and accurate goods receipt or service confirmation.
Supervise and mentor a team of Procurement Specialists, driving performance and compliance across procure-to-pay processes.
Review and process purchase requisitions from operational and manufacturing teams, ensuring alignment with business requirements.
Source goods and services in accordance with technical specifications, procurement guidelines, and cost objectives.
Request and evaluate supplier quotations; lead commercial negotiations to secure the best value in terms of cost, quality, and delivery.
Implement competitive bidding processes to reduce procurement costs and enhance supplier offerings.
Resolve payment issues in collaboration with Accounts Payable and act as a liaison between suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Support and participate in supplier contract negotiations, relationship management, and performance reviews.
Collaborate with sourcing and category management to rationalize the supplier base and improve procurement efficiency.
Monitor and report supplier non-conformances, ensuring timely resolution of quality or service-related issues.
Ensure procurement activities comply with corporate governance, ethics, safety, security, and environmental standards.
Promote a safety-first culture and demonstrate leadership in health, safety, and environmental (HSE) practices.
Maintain clear and effective communication with stakeholders at all levels, ensuring expectations and responsibilities are well-defined.
Manage procurement budgets and expenses, ensuring adherence to financial procedures and timelines.
Lead team development through coaching, performance reviews, and engagement in talent management initiatives.
Collaborate with HR and Training to attract, retain, and develop a high-performing, diverse procurement team.
Skills
In-depth understanding of procurement processes, supplier relationship management, and industry standards.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, manage, and develop a team.
Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy, with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, formulas, data analysis).
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Strong customer service orientation with a collaborative and problem-solving mindset.
Adaptability to shifting priorities and evolving operational needs.
Familiarity with complex procurement contracts and long-term supplier agreements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 7 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, planning, or materials management within the oil and gas industry.
Previous leadership experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
Experience with Material Resource Planning (MRP) and Demand Resource Planning (DRP) systems.
Knowledge of purchasing contracts and supplier agreements.
