Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and other blood collection techniques safely and efficiently.
• Ensure proper identification and labeling of blood samples for laboratory testing.
• Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of equipment and workspace at all times.
• Prepare patients for blood draws by explaining procedures and addressing concerns.
• Verify patient information and obtain required documentation prior to specimen collection.
• Transport blood samples to laboratory for testing following all safety protocols.
• Monitor patients for any adverse reactions during and after blood collection.
• Update patient records with detailed notes on venipuncture performed and sample collected.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations to prevent contamination and injury.
• Work in collaboration with medical staff to ensure quality patient care.
• Maintain inventory of blood collection supplies and order replacements as needed.
• Participate in continuous education and training to stay current with phlebotomy techniques.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program or equivalent experience.
• Strong ability in performing venipuncture and familiarity with various blood draw techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages.
• Ability to handle confidential patient information with integrity and professionalism.
