Job Description

As a Manager in Retail Buying, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the product assortment and overall consumer experience in our retail stores. Your primary responsibility will be to develop strategic buying plans that align with market trends, consumer preferences, and the company's financial goals. You will collaborate closely with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure efficient inventory management to meet consumer demand while optimizing profits. In addition, you will lead a team of buyers, providing guidance and strategy to ensure product selections meet both quality standards and brand expectations. This high-impact role requires a combination of creativity, analytical skills, and leadership abilities to drive success and ensure the retail operation's profitability and growth.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic buying plans to align with market trends and company goals.
  • Lead and mentor a team of buyers to ensure outstanding product selection and sourcing.
  • Conduct market research to remain updated on consumer preferences and competitor strategies.
  • Negotiate favorable terms with suppliers to optimize profit margins and product offerings.
  • Monitor stock levels and manage inventory to minimize waste and maximize availability.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to ensure product promotions align with buying strategies.
  • Analyze sales data and feedback to continuously refine product assortments.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations in all buying activities.
  • Foster strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers to ensure product quality.
  • Evaluate the financial performance of product lines and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Report regularly to senior management on buying strategies and performance metrics.
  • Stay updated with global retail trends and innovations to integrate into the buying strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management, or a related field is required.
  • Proven experience of at least 5 years in retail buying or a similar role.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate data into actionable buying strategies.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of securing advantageous supplier terms.
  • Solid understanding of inventory management processes to optimize stock levels efficiently.
  • Exceptional leadership qualities with experience in managing and developing a buying team.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
