Job Description

As a Manager of Retail Buying, you will spearhead the purchasing team in selecting and managing the product inventory for our retail chain, ensuring that the best products reach our customers at competitive prices. Your role will be pivotal in shaping the shopping experience by keeping abreast of market trends and consumer preferences, which in turn will help in making informed purchasing decisions and enhancing brand reputation. You will coordinate with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and oversee the assortment planning and replenishment process. Your strategic insights will play an integral role in maximizing sales and profitability for the company. This role demands an astute understanding of the retail market dynamics, supplier relationships, and a strong acumen for sales analyses to ensure optimal stock levels and product mix within our stores.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic buying plans aligned with the company's goals.
  • Lead buying teams to select and source new products for the store network.
  • Negotiate favorable terms and contracts with new and existing suppliers.
  • Monitor market trends and consumer demands for making informed buying decisions.
  • Analyze sales data to forecast future product demand accurately.
  • Ensure optimal inventory levels are maintained to maximize sales opportunities.
  • Manage relationships with key suppliers to foster long-term partnerships.
  • Work closely with the merchandising team to enhance product display strategies.
  • Oversee the replenishment of products to avoid stockouts and overstock situations.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews of buying team members and provide feedback.
  • Manage the buying budget effectively to increase profitability and reduce waste.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to align buying activities with marketing campaigns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, or related field is required.
  • Proven experience in retail buying with a leadership capacity is essential.
  • Strong negotiation skills with an ability to secure advantageous deals.
  • Excellent understanding of retail market dynamics and consumer preferences.
  • Exceptional analytical skills for interpreting sales data and market trends.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
