About The Role
AIQ is looking for an HSE Manager to lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) management system. The role involves overseeing safe work procedures, audits, risk assessments, training programs, and emergency preparedness initiatives. The ideal candidate will drive continuous improvement in safety performance, lead major incident investigations, and ensure regulatory compliance. As a key liaison across departments and with external stakeholders, the HSE Manager will promote a strong safety culture, mentor junior staff, and contribute strategic insights to senior leadership.
Responsibilities
Health and Safety Management System
Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organization’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) management system in alignment with recognized HSE standards and regulatory requirements.
Establish, review, and approve organization-wide safe work procedures, ensuring their effective application across departments and high-risk operations.
Oversee regular inspections, audits, and compliance assessments to proactively identify safety gaps and opportunities for improvement.
Analyze workplace safety data to evaluate risks, unsafe conditions, and behavioral safety trends, and oversee the development of comprehensive plans to mitigate risk and ensure a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Training and Educational Programs
Direct HSE training strategy by conducting high-level training needs assessments to identify competency gaps across all organizational levels.
Oversee the design and delivery of impactful HSE training programs, ensuring alignment with both regulatory obligations and business goals.
Sponsor and lead cross-functional safety initiatives and continuous improvement projects to enhance the organization’s safety culture and performance.
Monitor training effectiveness and compliance, making strategic adjustments to maximize impact.
Incident, Accident & Injury Investigation
Lead investigations into all major accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring rigorous root cause analysis and appropriate corrective actions.
Review and approve changes to safety programs, processes, or equipment arising from investigation findings.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of incidents and maintain oversight of the implementation of preventive and corrective actions.
Provide strategic insights to senior leadership based on trend analysis and recurring issues.
HSE Auditing and Compliance
Manage the organizations HSE audit program, ensuring systematic audits are conducted and aligned with corporate risk management objectives.
Review and approve audit findings and ensure timely communication with relevant stakeholders.
Oversee the closure of audit findings through effective follow-up, coaching, and integration of corrective measures into operations.
Benchmark audit results and compliance metrics to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Emergency Management
Lead the development, review, and enhancement of the organization’s emergency response strategy and business continuity plans.
Ensure cross-departmental coordination for emergency preparedness, including planning, execution, and evaluation of drills for all identified emergency scenarios.
Provide strategic oversight and support to departments in implementing corrective actions following emergency events or drills.
Foster a proactive approach to emergency planning through regular reviews, lessons learned, and organizational alignment.
Leadership and Team Collaboration
Act as the primary HSE liaison with internal and external stakeholders, promoting consistent communication and alignment with organizational goals.
Represent the HSE function in leadership forums, steering committees, and cross-departmental initiatives.
Mentor and support the development of junior HSE staff, driving a high-performing team environment.
Champion a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous learning across the organization.
Qualifications
Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing HSE management systems, leading audits, and managing cross-functional safety initiatives.
Proven track record in incident investigation, risk assessment, training program development, and emergency preparedness.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Relevant certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, ISO Lead Auditor, or equivalent) are highly preferred.
