Job Description

The Logistics Supervisor plays a pivotal role within the supply chain and operations management of an organization. Tasked with overseeing the logistics functions, this individual ensures the smooth and efficient movement of goods and materials within the organization and its external suppliers and customers. A successful Logistics Supervisor is highly organized, detail-oriented, and adept at managing people, processes, and technology. This position requires a proactive professional capable of managing logistics staff, maintaining inventory, coordinating transportation routes, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards. With a focus on optimizing operational efficiency, the Logistics Supervisor is also responsible for reducing costs and identifying opportunities for process improvements. Strong communication skills are essential, as the role involves collaboration with different departments, suppliers, and clients to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee the logistics and supply chain operations, ensuring timely delivery of materials.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the logistics staff and support team.
  • Develop and implement strategies for efficient transportation and distribution processes.
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage stock control systems to ensure accuracy.
  • Negotiate contracts and maintain relationships with carriers and other logistics partners.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and guidelines during logistics operations.
  • Analyze logistical challenges and implement solutions to improve process efficiency.
  • Collaborate with departmental managers to plan and forecast inventory needs.
  • Prepare and present reports on logistics performance to senior management.
  • Implement cost-saving measures and analyze logistics budgets and expenditures.
  • Coordinate and manage transportation schedules to optimize delivery routes.
  • Conduct regular training sessions for logistics staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in logistics or supply chain roles.
  • Proven supervisory or management experience in a logistics setting.
  • Strong understanding of logistics software and inventory management systems.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills for team and stakeholder interactions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate logistics data and performance indicators.
