Job Title: Senior Piping Engineer – Offshore FEED Project

KBR is growing its Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team for an exciting, high‑profile offshore development in Abu Dhabi. The ADNOC PMC project role would be based initially in Contractors Office in Abu Dhabi for some time till administrative process is completed and the candidate will be moving outside UAE ( to an Asian Country) for 6 – 8 months and then returning to UAE.

The project duration is until 2028 with possible extension.

Job Purpose

The Senior Piping Engineer is responsible for executing and coordinating piping engineering and design activities for ADNOC Offshore FEED projects. The role involves the development of piping layouts, material specifications, technical studies, and engineering deliverables for offshore oil and gas facilities while ensuring compliance with ADNOC Offshore standards, project specifications, international codes, and HSE requirements.

The successful candidate will support the design and optimization of offshore process facilities, ensuring safe, reliable, maintainable, and cost-effective piping systems throughout the FEED phase.

Key Responsibilities

Piping Engineering & Design

  • Perform piping engineering activities for offshore FEED projects.
  • Develop and review:
    • Piping Design Basis
    • Piping Material Specifications (PMS)
    • Pipe Class Specifications
    • Line Designation Tables
    • Piping General Arrangement (GA) Drawings
    • Plot Plans and Equipment Layouts
    • Piping Layout Drawings
    • Material Requisitions
    • Valve Specifications
    • Material Take-Offs (MTO)
    • Line Lists
  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards and project specifications.
  • Support development of safe, operable, and maintainable piping layouts.
FEED Engineering Deliverables

  • Prepare and review FEED deliverables related to piping design.
  • Assist in the development of:
    • Piping Philosophies
    • Design Criteria
    • Layout Studies
    • Tie-In Packages
    • Constructability Reviews
    • Engineering Reports
  • Ensure engineering deliverables are completed within project schedules and quality requirements.
  • Support scope definition and cost estimation activities.
Piping Layout & Routing

  • Develop piping layouts considering:
    • Offshore space constraints
    • Equipment accessibility
    • Maintenance requirements
    • Safety and escape routes
    • Modularization requirements
    • Weight optimization
  • Participate in 3D model reviews and layout optimization workshops.
  • Coordinate piping routing with process, structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
Piping Materials Engineering

  • Review and apply material selection requirements for:
    • Carbon Steel
    • Low-Temperature Carbon Steel
    • Stainless Steel
    • Duplex & Super Duplex Stainless Steel
    • Nickel Alloys
    • GRE/GRP Systems
  • Ensure material suitability for process conditions, corrosion control, and design life requirements.
  • Support corrosion studies and material selection reviews.
Stress Analysis Coordination

  • Identify stress-critical piping systems.
  • Coordinate with piping stress engineers on:
    • Flexibility Analysis
    • Thermal Expansion Studies
    • Support Design
    • Sustained and Occasional Load Assessments
    • Vibration Assessments
  • Review stress analysis inputs and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with piping stress and mechanical integrity requirements.
Offshore & Brownfield Projects

  • Support design of piping systems for:
    • Wellhead Platforms
    • Process Platforms
    • Utility Platforms
    • Gas Compression Facilities
    • Water Injection Facilities
    • Produced Water Facilities
    • Central Processing Facilities (CPF)
  • Participate in brownfield modifications and revamp projects.
  • Review tie-in requirements, shutdown studies, and constructability constraints.
  • Support offshore site surveys when required.
Vendor & Package Engineering

  • Review vendor package piping requirements and interfaces.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors for:
    • Pumps
    • Compressors
    • Pressure Vessels
    • Heat Exchangers
    • Gas Turbines
    • Utility Packages
  • Review vendor drawings, nozzle orientations, and piping interface requirements.
  • Participate in technical bid evaluations and vendor clarification meetings.
Safety & Risk Management

  • Participate in:
    • HAZID Studies
    • HAZOP Reviews
    • Constructability Workshops
    • SIMOPS Reviews
    • Model Reviews
  • Ensure piping arrangements meet process safety and operational requirements.
  • Promote inherently safer design principles.
Multidisciplinary Coordination

  • Coordinate with:
    • Process Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Structural Engineering
    • Civil Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Instrumentation & Control Engineering
    • Pipeline Engineering
    • HSE Engineering
  • Interface with ADNOC Offshore, PMC consultants, licensors, EPC contractors, and vendors.
  • Participate in project meetings, model reviews, and technical workshops.
Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Engineering discipline.
  • Master's Degree is an added advantage.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of piping engineering experience in Oil & Gas projects.
  • Minimum 5 years of ADNOC Offshore project experience.
  • Proven experience in FEED and Detailed Engineering phases.
  • Strong experience in:
    • Offshore Oil & Gas Facilities
    • Greenfield Developments
    • Brownfield Modifications
    • Process Plant Piping Systems
