Job Description

The IT Portfolio Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and aligning a company’s technology projects and investments with its strategic objectives. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and business acumen to successfully manage the lifecycle of IT investments and ensure they deliver value to the organization. The ideal candidate will have experience in portfolio management, including prioritizing projects, allocating resources, and assessing risks and returns. They will act as the primary liaison between IT and business units, facilitating communication and collaboration to drive project success. This role involves continuous monitoring and adjustment of the IT portfolio to adapt to changing business environments, ensuring the organization remains agile and competitive in the market.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement IT portfolio management strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Assess and prioritize IT projects based on value, risk, and resource availability.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into project objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of IT projects to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
  • Facilitate effective communication between IT and business units to support project execution.
  • Manage the allocation of resources across projects to optimize portfolio performance.
  • Conduct regular portfolio reviews to assess project progression and address emerging challenges.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with IT portfolio investments and propose risk management strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements for IT governance.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for project portfolio management activities.
  • Provide guidance and support to project managers and other team members for successful project delivery.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and innovation within the IT portfolio management framework.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least five years of experience in IT portfolio or project management roles.
  • Strong knowledge of IT governance, portfolio management, and strategic alignment methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to drive portfolio success.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage and balance multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • PMP, PgMP, or similar certification is highly desirable and considered a strong asset.
