Job Description

The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer plays a critical role in developing and implementing a company's health, safety, and environmental strategies. The primary objective of an HSE Officer is to ensure that the company operates in compliance with local, state, and federal HSE regulations. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing the company's employee safety programs to enhance the safety of both the workforce and the work environment. Additionally, you will conduct risk assessments, ensure all safety practices are adhered to, and foster a culture of safety among all employees. The successful candidate will require exceptional communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across various departments. Your role is pivotal in minimizing occupational hazards, which not only ensures safety but also enhances workplace productivity and morale.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health, safety, and environment policies and procedures.
  • Monitor compliance with safety regulations and provide guidance to ensure adherence.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments at various workplace sites.
  • Identify potential hazards in the workplace and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct training sessions to educate employees on health, safety, and environmental protocols.
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to ascertain causative factors and prevent recurrences.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents and present findings to management.
  • Collaborate with management and departments to implement safety improvements effectively.
  • Ensure all safety equipment and personal protective devices are current and functional.
  • Develop emergency response protocols and lead drills to ensure readiness.
  • Promote a culture of safety through engagement and effective communication efforts.
  • Provide expertise and assistance in regulatory agency interactions and compliance verification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety management, environmental science, or related field required.
  • Proven experience as an HSE Officer or similar role in the industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of HSE legislation and procedures at all governmental levels.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to understand and analyze complex data and safety reports.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to instruct and influence others.
  • Certification in occupational health and safety management systems is advantageous.
