Engineer - Project Delivery And Integration

Overview

The role of the Product Delivery and Integration (PD&I) Technician/Engineer is to perform the necessary tasks to deliver SATCOM and LoS project activities including procurement, integration, installation, testing and acceptance tasks.

The ideal candidate will specialize in the integration, testing, and installation of satellite ground terminals and associated subsystems. This role requires hands-on experience with RF systems, SATCOM hardware, and systems integration, as well as the ability to work in field deployment environments.

Responsibilities

• Integration
• Perform the integration of SATCOM systems including RF chains, modems, baseband equipment, and power systems as per provided design documentation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement and test end-to-end satellite communication solutions.
• Support system architecture development, component selection, and interface design.
• Execute the installation, commissioning, and testing of VSAT ground terminals including fixed and, on the move (SOTM) vehicular, airborne and maritime terminals.
• Ensure all work complies with relevant safety standards and technical specifications.
• Perform site surveys, equipment mounting, cable routing, antenna alignment, and RF testing.
  
  

• Testing & Validation
• Conduct verification, validation and qualification tests in accordance with test plans, including link budget verification, antenna characteristics validation and tracking performance.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues both on-site and remotely.
• Use test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers, and RF power meters.
• Conduct use-case-driven proof of concept scenarios aligned to customer requirements to showcase system capabilities
• Project Delivery
• Generate system documentation including block diagrams, test plans, site reports, and integration manuals.
• Support project delivery through detailed scheduling, risk identification, and technical reporting.
• Execute procurement plans in line with project schedule and budget during the full procurement lifecycle from assessing candidate supplier solutions, subcontracted supplier design and development activities and sub-system delivery and acceptance.
• Interface with clients and partners during design reviews, factory/site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), and post-installation support.
  
  

• Technical Diploma or Associated Degree in Electronics, Telecommunications or related field (Bachelor’s degree is a plus) with 5+ years of hands-on experience in satellite communications systems, with a focus on ground segment integration.
• Strong knowledge of RF theory and IP networking principles.
• Hands on experience with:
• satellite modems (e.g., iDirect, UHP, Newtec, Comtech),
• up/down converters, HPA/BUC/LNBs,
• RF and optical test equipment, and
• antenna systems (eg. VSAT, flyaway, maritime terminals)
• Proven experience performing field installations of VSAT terminals (fixed and SOTM)
• Proficiency in integration tasks such as
• Cabling and connectors (coaxial, waveguide, data and fiber), termination of MIL Circular power, data and RF connectors, soldering and cable testing
• Installation, alignment and troubleshooting fixed VSAT and on the move (SOTM) vehicular and naval terminals
• Sound understanding of Satellite Communications Engineering theory including link design and analysis for SATCOM links in C, Ku and Ka frequency bands
• Ability to read and produce engineering drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a methodical, detail-oriented mindset.
• Willingness to travel to customer or remote sites for installation and support.
  
  

• Experience in military or government SATCOM programs.
• Knowledge of standards such as MIL-STD, ETSI and ITU.
• Certifications such as GVF, CCNA, or PMP/Prince2.
