Job Description

An Electrician with the designation 15M26 is responsible for managing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems within various environments. This skilled professional plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and functionality of electrical systems in residential, commercial, or industrial settings. The role demands a strong understanding of electrical systems, proficiency in reading blueprints and technical diagrams, and compliance with regulatory codes and standards. Excellent problem-solving skills, physical dexterity, and attention to detail are essential as electricians troubleshoot issues and implement solutions. Often, they will work independently or as part of a team of contractors to install or upgrade electrical systems and provide guidance to junior staff members. The position may involve working outside regular hours in different weather conditions and requires adherence to strict safety protocols.


Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Ensure all work is in compliance with national electrical codes.
  • Inspect electrical components, like transformers and circuit breakers, regularly.
  • Identify electrical problems using a variety of testing devices and tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams effectively.
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Utilize a variety of tools and equipment, like power construction equipment.
  • Collaborate with building engineers and other trades professionals as necessary.
  • Train and mentor junior electricians in safety and efficiency protocols.
  • Comply with state, local, and federal regulations while performing tasks.
  • Prepare and submit reports detailing tasks, inspections, and maintenance routines.
  • Respond rapidly to any emergency electrical issues and service calls as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical coursework preferred.
  • Relevant certification or licensure approved by local electrical boards.
  • Proven work experience as an electrician within residential or commercial settings.
  • Strong knowledge of all safety codes and electrical standards compliance.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Excellent physical condition with the ability to lift heavy materials.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to different job sites.
