Job Description

A Desktop Support Technician 12F25 is an essential part of an organization's IT department, responsible for providing technical support and assistance to ensure the smooth operation of computer systems and software. This role is vital for maintaining productivity by resolving technical issues and implementing solutions for continual system improvements. The Desktop Support Technician interacts with other IT professionals, departments, and users to identify and troubleshoot errors, often in high-pressure environments. They must possess a strong understanding of computer hardware and software applications, as well as excellent customer service and communication skills to effectively assist users with varying levels of technical expertise. This position requires a proactive, organized individual capable of analyzing complex problems and implementing effective solutions.


Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for desktop hardware and software issues.
  • Respond to user inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Install and configure computer systems, applications, and peripheral equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of support requests, issues, and resolutions in the ticketing system.
  • Conduct regular system updates, maintenance, and performance checks to optimize functionality.
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining network infrastructure and connections.
  • Document and communicate resolutions to technical problems to improve future support efforts.
  • Perform data backups and system recovery tasks to protect user information and system integrity.
  • Collaborate with other IT team members to address complex or escalated technical issues.
  • Provide user training and guidance on operating hardware and software systems effectively.
  • Develop and update technical documentation for user support and internal training purposes.
  • Stay informed of emerging technologies and recommend enhancements to improve system performance.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in desktop support or a similar technical support role.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac OS environments and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Proficiency in supporting Microsoft Office Suite and other common software applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively assist users of varying technical abilities.
  • Familiarity with network configurations, printers, and peripheral device support.
