Job Description

As a Control Room Operator, you will play a critical role in maintaining and ensuring the effective operations of the control room on a 24/7 basis. You will be responsible for overseeing the operation of complex systems within a facility or plant, monitoring equipment and controls, and responding to alerts and system failures. The position demands acute attention to detail, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and an ability to react swiftly and decisively in high-pressure situations. You will work closely with other team members and departments to ensure optimal performance and safety. The role calls for excellent communication and organizational skills as you will be required to log events, respond to alarms, and possibly coordinate emergency responses. You are expected to be technologically adept, capable of interpreting data and system readouts extensively.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor plant and system operations continuously from the control room consoles.
  • Respond promptly to alarms and troubleshoot equipment or system issues.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and field personnel to resolve equipment problems.
  • Ensure safety protocols and emergency procedures are followed at all times.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of daily operations and incidents.
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends or issues in system performance.
  • Assist in routine inspections and maintenance of control room equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and external departments as needed.
  • Implement emergency shutdown procedures in case of system failures or threats.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to engineering and management for action.
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on system operations and safety.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure equipment and system efficiency and integrity.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Control Room Operator or similar role is essential.
  • Strong understanding of plant or system operations and control processes.
  • Ability to interpret and respond to complex data and alarm systems effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with various teams and departments.
  • A keen eye for detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
