Purpose of the position: Contracts Management, you will respond to the Head Legal and Contract Management Department and be part of the Contract Management Supply Chain Team. You will manage and support the Procurement Department for the Middle East Area.

How can you support us? See below your responsibilities:

  • Assist Procurement departments in charge for various Saipem’s business lines in managing all the contractual matters relevant to specific RFQ/ITT within the bid commercial phase inherent to materials, services and works Saipem is desirous to purchase or assigned, including, chartering of vessels and the transportation of goods, in respect of Saipem’s ongoing projects falling under middle east area;
  • Negotiate visà-vis bidders the contractual terms and conditions applying for the purchase of materials or assignment of services or works, including, without limitation, Non-Disclosure Agreement(s), Letter of Intents, Letter of Award, Memoranda of Understandings, General and Special Terms and Conditions (“GTC”), Project Special Terms and Conditions (“STC”), draft of Purchase Orders/Service Contracts/Work Contracts conditions, Framework Agreements, BIMCO(s) standards;
  • Liaise with Procurement departments by giving contractual advice as to the drafting of commercial terms and conditions under discussion with bidders in respect of the ITT documents applying on a caseby-case basis in order to suitably address Procurement departments’ needs;
  • Draw up and provide to Procurement and Project Management departments risks and/or gap analysis between Saipem’s contractual documents and clients’ or bidders’ Terms and Conditions with the purpose to highlight and keep Procurement and Project Management departments fully aware of those risks, costs and time impacts Saipem may be exposed to on a single project basis;
  • Cooperate, upon request, with both Contract Management PreAward and Execution Phase departments in reviewing Heads of Nominated Subcontractors Agreements (“HoNSA”) and Nominated Subcontractor Agreements (“NSA”) in compliance with Saipem’s internal procedures as well as claims of particular complexity against suppliers within post-order phase;
  • Review Project STC(s) encompassing flowdown requirements from Projects’ main contract which must be mandatorily included in each and every subcontract to place along Project supply chain and coordinate with Procurement departments to ultimately finalize Project STC before being dispatched to bidders via relevant RFQ/ITT;

What are we looking for?

Education: Master's Degree/bachelor’s degree in: Bachelor’s degree in law obtained at a university with reputable standing; Postgraduate degree in the oil and gas industry would be a plus.

Admission to the bar either in the EU, the UK or within other common law jurisdictions is preferred;

Experience

  • At least 5 years’ experience in oil and gas, energy is a mandatory requirement; nonetheless, any other professional experience gained within other similar industries will be taken into account.
  • Ability to manage complex contracts by providing key solutions to the Procurement department, both from a contractual and commercial perspective;
  • Strong knowledge of common law principles is a must;

Languages: Fluency in business English, both oral and written, is a mandatory requirement; knowledge of any other language will be an asset.

Technical Skills: Knowledge of maritime law, particularly on BIMCO principles, would be a plus;

IT Skills: Excellent command of Microsoft Office Suit Package is essential.
