Consultant Rheumatologist

The Consultant Rheumatologist is a senior medical professional specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with rheumatic diseases and musculoskeletal conditions. Working within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment, this role involves providing expert consultations, developing treatment plans, and ensuring holistic, evidence-based care. The consultant also plays a role in mentoring junior doctors, participating in research and continuous medical education, and upholding the highest clinical standards in line with UAE healthcare regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Diagnosing and managing a broad range of rheumatic and autoimmune conditions, including arthritis, lupus, and vasculitis.

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and interpreting diagnostic tests such as bloodwork, imaging, and biopsies.

• Developing and overseeing personalized treatment plans involving medication, therapy, and lifestyle management.

• Collaborating with other specialists such as orthopedists, physiotherapists, and immunologists to ensure integrated care.

• Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and hospital committees.

• Providing clinical leadership and support to medical staff and junior doctors in the rheumatology department.

• Staying up to date with current research, innovations, and best practices in rheumatology.

• Maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring compliance with clinical governance standards.

• Educating patients and families about disease management and preventive strategies.

• Contributing to the hospital’s continuous improvement efforts and quality assurance processes.

Requirements:

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.

• Valid license or eligibility to practice in the UAE.

• Minimum of 8–10 years of relevant clinical experience, with at least 3 years as a Consultant.

• In-depth knowledge of autoimmune and musculoskeletal diseases and current treatment protocols.

• Strong clinical decision-making, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient care capabilities.
