Role Purpose
The Chief Executive Officer - Emirates Steel (CEO - ES) is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the Steel Business Unit, ensuring it achieves its business objectives while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and sustainability.
Reporting to the Group CEO, the CEO - Steel drives innovation, oversees the adoption of advanced technologies, and ensures the business unit remains competitive and aligned with the broader goals of the organisation.
The role also emphasises product quality, customer satisfaction, and corporate social responsibility, ensuring the Steel Business Unit contributes positively to the community and the environment.
Accountabilities and Key Activities
1. Strategic Leadership and Business Management
- Develop and execute the strategic plan for the Steel Business Unit, aligning it with the overall goals and objectives of the organisation.
- Provide leadership and direction to the operations, commercial, supply chain, and HSE teams to ensure business targets are met and exceeded.
2. Operational Excellence
- Oversee all operational activities within the Steel Business Unit, ensuring efficient production processes, optimal resource utilisation, and continuous improvement.
- Implement and maintain best practices in operational management to improve productivity and cost-effectiveness.
3. Commercial Strategy and Market Positioning
- Develop and implement commercial strategies that strengthen the Steel Business Unit’s market position and drive revenue growth.
- Lead the sales and marketing teams to expand market share, develop new products, and enter new markets.
4. Supply Chain Management
- Oversee end-to-end supply chain operations, ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement, production, and distribution of steel products.
- Develop strategies to optimise the supply chain, reduce lead times, and improve supplier relationships.
5. Stakeholder Management and Communication
- Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders within the Steel Business Unit, including customers, suppliers, regulators, and internal teams.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration between the Steel Business Unit and the wider organisation.
6. Product Quality and Customer Satisfaction
- Ensure the highest standards of product quality are maintained across all steel products, meeting or exceeding customer expectations and industry benchmarks.
- Develop and implement quality-control programmes to continuously monitor and improve product quality while proactively addressing customer feedback.
7. Safety, Quality, and Environment
- Ensure compliance with all relevant management policies, procedures, and controls within the Emirates Steel Business Unit.
- Maintain employee safety, legislative compliance, high-quality products and services, and a responsible environmental approach.
8. Financial Oversight and Budget Management
- Manage the financial performance of the Steel Business Unit, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Ensure the business unit operates within its approved budget and achieves its financial targets.
9. Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility
- Lead initiatives that promote sustainability within the Steel Business Unit, focusing on reducing environmental impact, energy consumption, and waste.
- Champion corporate social responsibility programmes that support community engagement, workforce development, and environmental stewardship.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is essential.
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Business Management is preferred.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 20 years of relevant professional experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in a comparable senior leadership position or level of responsibility.
- Previous experience within the steel, metals, heavy manufacturing, or a similar industrial sector is preferred.
Languages
- Arabic is essential.
- English is essential.

Working Conditions
- Working hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
- Travel to GCC countries and other locations may be required.
- After-hours availability may be required to meet deadlines.
- Routine exposure to noise, dust, humidity, heat, chemicals, oil and grease, gases and vapours, heights, cold, accidents, and other industrial conditions is assessed as low.
