Job Description

The Automotive Spare Parts Store Keeper plays a vital role in the smooth functioning of automotive service centers, dealerships, and repair shops by efficiently managing the inventory of automotive parts and supplies. This position requires an individual who is organized, detail-oriented, and possesses a strong knowledge of automotive parts. The Store Keeper ensures that inventory levels are maintained accurately, orders are fulfilled timely, and all parts are stored efficiently to facilitate easy retrieval. This role also involves coordinating with suppliers, technicians, and customers, and ensuring that all parts transactions are recorded precisely. A successful Store Keeper contributes significantly to the reduction of customer wait times, minimizes inventory carrying costs, and ensures the availability of parts necessary for the maintenance and repair of vehicles.


Responsibilities

  • Manage inventory levels and ensure an accurate count of automotive spare parts.
  • Receive, inspect, and organize parts as they are delivered to the store.
  • Maintain records of stock levels, orders, deliveries, wastages, and sales transactions.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely replenishment of stock when levels are low.
  • Organize the store layout to ensure easy access and retrieval of parts by staff.
  • Work closely with the service and repair teams to understand their needs and timelines.
  • Monitor the quality of parts received and return any defective products to suppliers.
  • Create purchase orders and follow up on pending or delayed orders diligently.
  • Ensure proper labeling and identification of parts to maintain organization and accuracy.
  • Maintain a clean and safe store environment in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Assist customers and technicians in locating specific parts and providing information as needed.
  • Prepare and dispatch parts for delivery or collection as per customer orders.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; further education in automotive technology is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in inventory management or as a storekeeper is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive parts and their applications in various vehicles.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in handling inventory.
  • Proficiency with inventory management software and basic computer skills is essential.
  • Sound ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, staff, and customers.
  • Capacity to lift heavy parts and materials, standing for extended periods if required.
