We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is committed to a career in nature conservation for a ten-month placement, starting in late summer 2026. Working with the Biodiversity Officer in the Conservation Team, the role offers an exciting opportunity to gain experience of working with a wide range of partner organisations on projects to support the conservation and recovery of habitats and species in Nottinghamshire, and deliver the wider work of the Biodiversity Action Group.

The internship is open to candidates studying at a Nottinghamshire-based University, or for applicants who are normally resident in Nottinghamshire but studying outside the county, and who are studying for an environment-related degree. This includes both students who will graduate in 2026 and those on courses with a placement year.

You must have a keen interest in wildlife, be happy working both from home and in an office environment and have a willingness to work some anti-social hours. A driving licence and use of a vehicle is desirable but not essential.

For further information contact biodiversity@nottscc.gov.uk

Nottinghamshire County Council strives to ensure that it goes beyond the requirements of the Equalities Act and prides itself on being accredited as a Disability Confident Leader Organisation.

Under the Disability Confident scheme (formerly known as the Guaranteed Interview Scheme) we would like to ensure applicants with disabilities are offered an interview if they meet the minimum criteria for a job. Please let us know if this is something you would like to be considered for.

A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.

Nottinghamshire County Council strongly encourages applications from all candidates from different walks of life, irrespective of gender, marital status, disability, race, religion, belief, pregnancy and maternity status, age or sexual orientation.
