As a Patient Services Representative, you will play an integral role in ensuring a seamless and positive experience for patients within a healthcare setting. You will be responsible for actively engaging with patients to address their inquiries, manage appointments, and facilitate communication between them and healthcare providers. Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly and assist them with check-in processes efficiently.
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage changes or cancellations professionally.
  • Verify patients' insurance details and obtain necessary authorizations for services.
  • Update and maintain accurate patient records in the healthcare management system.
  • Facilitate clear communication between patients and healthcare providers or departments.
  • Collect and process patient payments, including co-pays and outstanding balances.
  • Provide patients with educational materials and resources as required by their treatment plan.
  • Address and resolve patient inquiries, complaints, or concerns with empathy and efficiency.
  • Coordinate referrals and follow-up appointments with specialists or additional service providers.
  • Ensure the waiting area is orderly, comfortable, and well-stocked with necessary brochures and forms.
  • Assist with administrative tasks including filing, scanning documents, and managing correspondence.
  • Comply with all healthcare regulations, policies, and protocols to protect patient confidentiality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in healthcare is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a medical or customer service setting is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient interactions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in healthcare management systems and office software applications.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills for accurate record-keeping.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
