Job Title: Full Stack Data Engineer

Location: Fully Remote, Philippines

Salary: $10.00 - $13.00 per hour based on experience

Schedule: Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Data Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in both data engineering and data analytics, with the ability to work on the full lifecycle of data—from collecting and transforming raw data to creating meaningful visualizations and dashboards for decision-making. This role will involve building scalable data pipelines, optimizing the data architecture, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the infrastructure and tools support business intelligence needs within our custom-built software.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer, Software Engineer, or similar role with a focus on both backend data systems and frontend analytics.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, with experience in data modeling, query optimization, and working with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language like Python or Scala for data processing and automation.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) for data storage, processing, and deployment.
  • Experience developing business intelligence features and custom dashboards and reports.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture principles and data warehousing.
  • Experience with containerization (Kubernetes) and deploying data systems in a cloud environment.
  • Experience with ETL frameworks (e.g., Apache Airflow, Talend) and hands-on experience in building and maintaining data pipelines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a passion for working with data.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data lakes, data pipelines, and real-time data processing.
  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and data science tools (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow) is a plus.
  • Experience with Version Control Systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of data security and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).

Responsibilities

  • Data Infrastructure and Pipeline Development:
    • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines that efficiently collect, transform, and store data from various sources.
    • Develop and manage ETL processes to ensure data is cleaned, processed, and ready for analysis.
    • Implement data integration solutions with APIs, third-party services, and internal data sources.

  • Data Architecture and Storage:
    • Build and optimize data architectures (data warehouses, data lakes, or NoSQL databases) for storing large amounts of structured and unstructured data.
    • Manage the data storage systems to ensure reliability, scalability, and optimal performance.
    • Ensure data consistency, quality, and security across systems.

  • Cross-Collaboration:
    • Work closely with business stakeholders to identify and prioritize data needs.
    • Assist in the design and development of interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations in our custom applications.
    • Collaborate with the DevOps team for the seamless deployment and scaling of data infrastructure.
    • Provide guidance on best practices for using data and reporting tools to generate actionable insights.
  • Front-End Analytics Development:
    • Develop user-friendly data visualizations and dashboards that can be consumed by business stakeholders and decision-makers.
    • Support the integration of real-time data for interactive reports and performance monitoring.
  • Optimization and Performance Tuning:
    • Identify and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks in data pipelines, ensuring fast and reliable data processing.
    • Optimize queries, ETL jobs, and data models for improved efficiency.

  • Automation and Monitoring:
    • Automate repetitive data tasks and processes using tools like Airflow, or custom scripts.
    • Monitor data pipelines for errors, performance issues, and data quality issues, ensuring proactive issue resolution.

  • Documentation and Best Practices:
    • Maintain clear and detailed documentation of data workflows, processes, and tools.
    • Promote and ensure adherence to data governance, security, and compliance best practices.

Successful candidates for this role will be rewarded with the following benefits:

  • A total of five paid vacation days per year (additional days can be taken unpaid).
  • A 5% raise per year guaranteed (additional raises or bonuses may be given for outstanding performance).
  • A paid 15-minute break for every 4 hours of work.
  • Healthcare benefits after 2 months of full-time work.
  • Vacation days increase by 1 vacation day per year. I.e. after one year of employment, the total paid vacation days on year 2 would be six, on year 3 seven, etc.
