Job Description

An Electrical Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems in both residential and commercial settings. They work closely with engineers and other technicians to ensure electrical systems are operating efficiently and safely. With a keen understanding of electrical codes and regulations, an Electrical Technician must meticulously plan and execute their work to meet all safety standards. They often work on-site, tackling complex electrical challenges that require advanced problem-solving skills. In addition, Electrical Technicians assist with the design and installation of new electrical systems, upgrade existing ones, and perform regular inspections to ensure compliance and safety.


Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in various settings accurately and efficiently.
  • Inspect electrical components and systems to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
  • Read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and specifications for accurate installations and repairs.
  • Collaborate with engineers and architects during the design and planning phase of projects to ensure feasibility.
  • Upgrade outdated electrical systems to meet current industry standards and regulations safely.
  • Conduct regular inspections of electrical systems, wiring, and equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
  • Maintain records of maintenance, installations, and repairs for auditing and reference purposes.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians and apprentices to develop their skill sets properly.
  • Troubleshoot system failures and faults to ensure timely and efficient resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with all electrical codes and safety standards to minimize risk and liability.
  • Procure necessary components and parts based on project specifications and requirements.
  • Respond promptly to emergency electrical issues to restore functionality and safety.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Technician or similar role in the industry.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and schematics in various settings.
  • Familiarity with electrical standards, codes, and safety regulations essential.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting issues.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong commitment to safety and compliance at all times.
  • Associate’s degree or certification in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field preferred.
