Hybrid Work Model
At Assent, we proudly embrace a remote-first work model, valuing the flexibility and autonomy it provides our team. We also acknowledge the intangible benefits of occasional in-person workdays. For team members situated within 50 kms/31 miles of our five global offices in Ottawa, Eldoret, Penang, Columbus, Pune and Amsterdam, you can expect to come into the office at least one day a week. Similarly, those near our co-working spaces in Nairobi and Toronto are encouraged to work onsite once a month.
Job Description
The Product Manager (PDM) role is instrumental in guiding Assents product evolution. Embracing a continuous discovery approach, this role demands deep engagement with customers and users, leveraging insights to shape product strategy and execution. The Product Manager will lead through empowerment, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration across internal teams to deliver solutions that meet and exceed expectations. This role demands a balance of technical savvy, strategic insight, and a deep commitment to user-centric principles, driving the product forward through informed, collaborative, data-driven decision-making.
Key Requirements & Responsibilities
- Collaborate directly with Engineering and Design team members to produce working software solutions
- Lead team collaboration activities in alignment with established practices
- Document collaboration outcomes in alignment with established standards
- Work closely with Senior Product Managers to translate their value-driven feature outcomes into actionable bodies of work (Epics and Stories) for the Delivery Team
- Understand customer needs, market trends, and potential technological advancements;
- Regularly engage with customers, conduct user research, and validate hypotheses through experiments;
- Work closely with your product Delivery Team, with product management focusing on value and viability, product design leading on usability and engineering representing the feasibility perspective;
- Manage individual products or specific product features, develop and execute the product roadmap based on market data and insights;
- Advocate for and implement continuous delivery practices to ensure rapid and reliable product releases;
- Focus on delivering value to customers through iterative development and learning;
- Utilize data and analytics to inform product decisions, measure success, and adapt strategies based on actionable insights and performance metrics;
- Ensure that business objectives are still being met, when dealing with unforeseen change during delivery of scope;
- Maintain knowledge of new trends and products in the market and in adjacent products;
- Collaborate with and support internal groups to help launch products and features;
- Contribute to the correlation of product definitions and market needs;
- Collaborate with regulatory, marketing and sales to define solutions and understand market;
- Contribute to product launch activities, and monitor product metrics
Qualifications

- Excellent oral and written communication skills - you communicate clearly, concisely and with tact;
- Strong ability to build consensus and alignment;
- A University, College and/or Post Graduate certificate in Business Administration or any technical discipline;
- At least 5 years of relevant and progressive experience in Product Management for a SaaS company;
- Deep understanding of SaaS;
- Avid consumer of current and emerging technologies;
- Experience with data-driven decision making, user engagement metrics/insight and business intelligence and analytics use cases;
- Ability to understand and define opportunities related to artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML);
- Deep experience and professional interest in GenAI and LLM;
- Understanding of software development processes and lifecycle, and quality assurance principles;
- Excellent interpersonal skills - you are able to build and scale stable relationships with a diverse array of stakeholders both internally, and externally with prospects and customers;
- Team player with strong collaboration skills - you seek to understand, ask the right questions, communicate proactively and effectively on the goals and outcomes for owned product, and involve the right people at the right time
- Excellent leading, influencing and negotiation skills - strong ability to build consensus and get buy-in on product vision and direction, and orient teams to the actions required for success;
- Strong presentation skills, ability to tailor the message to the audience, and deliver the intended message effectively;
- High degree of professionalism, maturity and emotional intelligence;
- Excellent time management skills and highly organized with the ability to multitask, execute on short-term projects and manage ongoing long-term strategies;
- Strategic and business-minded;
- You are passionate about helping customers, and providing solutions to their problems;
