Key Responsibilities

Design & Planning:

  • Design MEP systems for hotels including HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, and fire protection
  • Coordinate with architects and structural engineers on space planning
  • Ensure compliance with hospitality industry standards and local codes

Project Management:

  • Oversee MEP installation during construction phases
  • Manage contractors and subcontractors
  • Monitor project timelines and budgets
  • Conduct quality control inspections

Hotel-Specific Expertise:

  • Guest room comfort systems (individual HVAC controls, lighting)
  • Kitchen and restaurant MEP requirements
  • Pool/spa mechanical systems
  • Emergency power and life safety systems
  • Smart building technologies and energy management

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Experience with hospitality construction projects
  • Knowledge of building codes (IBC, NFPA, ASHRAE standards)
  • Proficiency in MEP design software (AutoCAD, Revit MEP, etc.)

  • Energy efficiency requirements for hotel operations
  • Guest experience impact of MEP systems
  • Maintenance accessibility for ongoing operations
  • Integration with hotel management systems
