Job Title: Infrastructure Test Automation/Infrastructure as a Code (IAC) Lead
Job Overview
The Infrastructure Test Automation/IAC (Infrastructure as Code) Lead is a pivotal role responsible for leading the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of automated testing across infrastructure platforms. This includes overseeing automation test strategies and execution for systems such as Windows, Linux, Network, Database, InfoSecurity, virtualization environments, and cloud integrations. The role blends technical leadership with hands-on automation expertise to ensure infrastructure reliability, scalability, and performance, the Infrastructure Test Automation Lead ensures robust, high-quality, and scalable infrastructure deployments across development, staging, and production environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and expertise within the infrastructure field to deliver quality programs and projects in-house and onshore for all Infrastructure areas.
- Responsible for Automated Infrastructure testing for changes from Infrastructure and Info Security areas and projects leveraging test automation and collaborating with Engineering and Operations teams.
- Responsible for building and maintaining productive working relationship like planning, scripting, reviewing, execution, monitoring, testing, and project closure.
- Analyze the infrastructure changes, identify the impact to Bank’s core systems, working with Engineering partners to drive test strategies and required parameters, developing test scripts, ensure testing coverage and scenarios.
- Lead and manage quality delivery of All Infrastructure areas changes to avoid business impact, including handling incidents and track to the resolution.
- Accountable to drive quality efficiencies and effectiveness using automated solutions for infrastructure changes, testing life cycle and change process optimization applying the ITIL process methodology and tools like ServiceNow.
- Architect, design, and refine IAC solutions utilizing tools such as Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, or equivalent. Ensure infrastructure definitions are version-controlled, repeatable, and consistent across environments.
- Develop and lead the end-to-end automation strategy for infrastructure testing. Oversee the creation and maintenance of automated test suites that validate infrastructure changes, deployments, and rollbacks.
- Integrate automated IAC tests within CI/CD pipelines, ensuring seamless and safe delivery of infrastructure changes. Champion best practices for pipeline efficiency, reliability, and transparency.
- Evaluate, select, and implement automation frameworks, testing tools, and supporting technologies that best fit organizational needs.
- Partner with architects, DevOps, security, and application teams to align infrastructure test automation with broader technical and business goals.
- Drive the creation of clear, comprehensive documentation for all automated infrastructure test processes. Develop and disseminate best practices and standards across teams.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of automation engineers and testers. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in incident management activities, particularly those relating to infrastructure failures. Lead or contribute to root cause analysis and remediation efforts.
- Embed security testing and compliance validation within automated pipelines. Collaborate with security teams to ensure infrastructure code meets organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Define and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for automation effectiveness, reliability, and coverage. Report results to technical and business stakeholders.
- Technical Skill Development: Actively foster the growth of technical expertise within the team by organizing training sessions, facilitating knowledge sharing, and encouraging practical application of new technologies.
Required Technical Skills
- Proficiency and Hands-on experience in scripting languages - Python, Bash Scripting, Java, Advanced PowerShell, or similar.
- Test lifecycle experience in delivering high quality infrastructure changes with minimal impacts to applications (test planning, test scenario build, test execution, defect/issue management and test health metrics and status reporting)
- Good understanding of Computer Systems Architecture and Data Center Services and Operations.
- Infrastructure Administration, Automation Concepts, Diagnostics and Troubleshooting.
- Expertise in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or CloudFormation.
- Deep understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, Azure DevOps, etc.).
- Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools (Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog) and log aggregation (ELK/EFK stacks).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and associated infrastructure services.
- Solid grasp of networking, database, security, and compliance as they relate to automated infrastructure deployments.
- Certifications in cloud architecture or automation (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Terraform Associate) is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 12+ Years Experience in Infrastructure change testing life cycle/Software Testing Lifecycle
- Related Certifications in areas of Computer Infrastructure, Testing, and Project Management.
- Provide leadership, build and maintaining relationships with Stakeholders.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work and tasks under pressure.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset and inquisitive mind sets
- Ability to handle conflict effectively.
- Able to communicate with all levels of management and peers within the organization, written and verbal.
- Flexible with the ability to and work under pressure, work based on the Infrastructure change schedule and weekends
- Proactive, strong-minded, quick thinker and assertive.
