What You Will Do

As part of the System Engineering team in this new role you’ll be instrumental in supporting and enhancing our System based on Micro focus Cobol, Linux, XML and Oracle. You will be working as Cobol/Linux/SQL developer and will be involved in looking at the backend system and improving it. You will be involved in writing scripts, understanding the framework and provide solution to day to day issues. You should be able to handle production issues independently and simultaneously working on enhancement projects. We are seeking a technically strong candidate who can work independently.

Responsibilities

Following will be the responsibilities:

• Requirement analysis for the new work and producing technical design as well as implementation.
• Working with System Architects to understand the gaps or new requirements in the system and then doing the work.
• Supporting development teams for the system related issues.
• Supporting the existing system for issues in different development and production environments.
• Supporting the Operation and DBA teams for the backend system when they plan and work on upgrades.
• Involves tackling problems of diverse scope, designing and implementing complex software while ensuring quality of the product remains high.
  
  

Who You Are

• Expert with extensive experience in Shell Scripting on Unix/Linux system (bash, sh etc). Well versed with Unix/Linux environment.
• Good experience in working with databases, data modelling, and SQL, Oracle PL/SQL, Views, Database Triggers.
• Microfocus COBOL or MF COBOL programming background.
• Knowing C programming is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of XML.
• Familiarity with version control tools.
• Excellent analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills with a knack for out-of-the-box thinking.
• Expertise in architecture design, deployment, configuration, automation, and management of scale-out filesystems.
• Effective utilization of a wide array of tools for development.
• Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
• We develop in an Eclipse environment using Maven and SVN. Experience with these tools will be advantageous.
