Mainframe Specialist

The MAINFRAME SPECIALIST works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Strong knowledge in Mainframe technologies and debugging code is a must-have. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in their own area of expertise. The specialist works on the migration efforts of critical, industry-class, in-house, or commercial products as well as tooling for use in project work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitie

• sLearn the Astadia Factory tools to perform mainframe transformations
• .Provide expert-level mainframe knowledge and debugging
• .Provide expert-level mainframe COBOL coding
• .Document requirements, use cases, system design, and code
• .Working experience in IDMS mainframe databas
• eParticipate in multiple concurrent projects to completion on time and budget
• .Deliver within the scope of the project, within the scope of a Factory project, while not compromising on quality
• .Work closely with team members and clients to achieve desired results
• .Mentor junior team members on Mainframe migration task
• sIdentify and bridge knowledge gaps among team members from different backgrounds, like Java, C#, Oracle, etc
• .Thrive in an environment of collaboration and change
• .Develops and works with the client’s mainframe specialists

.Education and Experienc

• e5+ years of experience with mainframe applications and database technologies
• .5+ Years of Development experience in mainframe COBOL or PL/I, JCL codin
• gGood hands-on experience in IDMS database
• .A plus would be a candidate with 2+ Years of Development experience using cutting-edge development tools in JAVA
• .Certifications in any cloud technologies are good to have
• .BE in Computer Science or equivalent work experience

.Skills, Knowledge, and Abilitie

• sExpert level in mainframe application technologies (COBOL, CICS, DB2, IMS, JCL etc....)
• .Expert-level experience coding in mainframe COBOL and/or PL/
• ICapable of code debugging, performing builds, and rollouts
• .Exposure to or experience with third-party development frameworks is desired
• .The ability to learn new frameworks in a short period
• .Strong object-oriented programming and debugging skills
• .SQL development
• .Understanding of database concepts
• .Experienced in unit testing, test-driven development, integration testing, and deployment using cloud technologies
• .Excellent written and verbal communication skills
