Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Pastry Commis to join our dynamic culinary team. This role is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about bakery and pastry arts and eager to learn from experienced chefs while contributing to the creation of high-quality pastries and baked goods. As a Pastry Commis, you will assist in all aspects of pastry production, from preparation to execution, ensuring that each item meets our high standards for quality and presentation. Your role will involve working closely with the pastry chefs, maintaining a clean and efficient workspace, and upholding all health and safety regulations. Responsibilities

  • Assist pastry chefs in preparing and baking pastries and baked goods.
  • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes and specifications.
  • Follow instructions for cooking, baking, and assembling pastry items.
  • Ensure all pastries and baked goods are consistent and high-quality.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work station at all times.
  • Assist in the decoration and creative design of baked goods and desserts.
  • Monitor stock and notify chefs when ingredients are running low.
  • Adhere to health and safety standards and food hygiene regulations.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
  • Assist with the daily prep and production lists as assigned by chefs.
  • Accept and receive deliveries, ensuring quality and quantity are accurate.
  • Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance skillsets.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required for this position.
  • A degree or certificate in culinary arts is an added advantage.
  • Previous experience in a bakery or pastry kitchen setting is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of baking techniques and pastry preparation is essential.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
