Job Description

As a Commis Chef, you will be an essential part of the culinary team, where you will gain valuable kitchen experience under the guidance of more senior chefs. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of meals under the instruction of senior chefs.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen areas.
  • Ensure that ingredients are properly stored and organized for efficiency.
  • Prepare basic components of each dish before service begins daily.
  • Participate in the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen equipment and tools.
  • Assist chefs in crafting new menu ideas and dish preparations.
  • Observe guidelines for portion control, reducing waste efficiently.
  • Maintain a complete understanding of all menu items and products available.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure a smooth and coordinated operation.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive and productive kitchen atmosphere.
  • Work various shifts as required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a kitchen or culinary environment is a plus.
  • A passion for cooking and a desire to develop culinary skills.
  • Strong ability to follow detailed instructions accurately and efficiently.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work within a team.
  • Good organizational skills to manage multiple tasks within a dynamic setting.
  • Flexibility to work various hours, including early mornings and late evenings.
  • Familiarity with culinary equipment and techniques will be advantageous.
  • Basic understanding of food safety practices and kitchen hygiene procedures.
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities as needed by the team.
