Job Purpose
Responsible for operations and maintenance of data core network elements like SGSN/MME, GGSN/S-PGW, PCRF, Gn & Gi DNS, CGF, CGNAT and Firewalls including cloud & Cloud IP infra nodes
Key Result Areas/Accountabilities
- Uptime -Ensure 99.999% uptime of all Data Core nodes
- Alarms, Fault and Outage handling - Ensure restoration of outages / emergencies in shortest possible time, minimize impact of outage on service by identifying and taking actions like implementing work around, temp traffic diversions. Immediate action and resolution of all types of HW, SW faults and alarms; drive preventive maintenance tasks . Follow up and study RCA of the issue, take / suggest action plan to avoid repeat of fault / outage.
- RS&R management - ensure repair of all HW including Cloud & Cloud IP infra within TAT, 0 RNP cards.
- Redundancy - Ensure 100% redundancy and resiliency for all types of core nodes and its connectivity, review it periodically and suggest for required changes
- Backup - 100% compliance of Core node back up policy and ensuring availability of back up all the time for any emergency handling.
- Customer complaint handling - Ensure immediate action of all types of customer complains related to Data core network & data roaming, detailed investigation and proper resolution.
- Field support - Extending support to central teams for new roll out including software upgrade and technical testing. Field resource alignment for any on-site activities for Data Core platform HW and new feature testing.
- Change implementation and testing - Ensure accurate implementation of all types of changes, judge impact of changes pre / post service confirmation for each of the change including KPI tracking and impact analysis
- Upgrade - Drive SW version and patch upgrades of Core nodes, new feature testing
- Capacity Management - Ensure all NE’s HW & SW utilization is maintained at optimal level and no rejections of any type.
- KPI Analysis & improvement - First level analysis on Performance related, Revenue exposure related and Customer impacting related concerns. Troubleshooting the issue by analyzing application layer/ network layer traces. Timely escalation to concerned team for resolution; monitoring of all types of core KPIs like: ASR, PDP/PDN SR, S11 SR, Inter and Intra RAU/TAU, SRVCC SR, CSFB SR, SGs LUSR etc, all types of Gx and Gy errors and success rates. Maintain all KPI above benchmarked values and work for its improvement
- Caching Traffic Monitoring – Keep track on caching traffic trends, escalate and drive action in case any deviation, for any new node getting added in network verify all caching are done from nearest location
- Compliance - Compliance of internal and external audit, SOPs; Lawful Interception SOP and compliance.
- Inventory Management: - Ensure latest update on inventory in terms of location, HW, SW, Capacity etc. & scrapping of non-live inventory
- Project Handover: Take proper HO of all new nodes from project team, ensuring all physical installation as per guideline, availability of all HLD, LLD, solution documents etc., verify all functionalities and redundancies working fine as per design
- Team management & Training – Mentor all team members, enhance their technical and behavioral skills, keep them positively engaged and motivated, challenge them to bring best out of each individual. Impart technical trainings to team members
Core Competencies, Knowledge, Experience
- In-depth understanding and hands on working experience on various core nodes like SGSN/MME, GGSN/S-PGW, PCRF, Gn & Gi DNS, CGF, CGNAT and Firewalls on bare metal as well as cloud infra structure
- Command level knowledge of all types of configuration of these network elements like Ericsson / Nokia MME, Ericsson /CISCO / Nokia GW, Ericsson and CISCO PCRF, F5 & CISCO DNS etc.
- Detailed understanding of cloud architecture with deployment in CUPS or non-CUPS configuration.
- Clear understanding of all types of call flows for Data core, role of PACO elements in VOLTE & Voice core domain and its relevant call flows, DATA roaming call flows, GRX knowledge
- Good understanding of IP concepts like router, switches, IP protocols – OSPF, BGP, MPLS, ISIS, SDN etc
- Trace analysis and troubleshooting skills including knowledge of various protocols like SCCP, MAP, GTP, Diameter, HTTP2
- Knowledge of 5G Core – NSA and SA mode of working, Role of PACO NE in 5G Core
- Good understanding of Telco cloud architecture its deployment & operation
- Good team handling, communication – written and verbal, presentation skills.
