Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced SAP BusinessObjects Data Services (SAP BODS) Upgrade Specialist to lead and support SAP BODS platform upgrades, repository migrations, environment transitions, and troubleshooting activities. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in SAP BODS architecture, upgrade planning, migration execution, repository management, performance tuning, and issue resolution across Development, QA, and Production environments.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

SAP BODS Upgrade & Migration

Plan, coordinate, and execute SAP BODS version upgrades across multiple environments.

Perform repository migration activities, including Local, Central, and Profiler repositories.

Conduct migration of jobs, dataflows, workflows, custom scripts, and configurations between BODS versions.

Validate compatibility of existing ETL jobs with upgraded SAP BODS versions.

Execute post-upgrade testing and production cutover activities.

Develop rollback and contingency plans for upgrade implementations.

Troubleshooting & Support

Analyze and resolve issues encountered during upgrades, migrations, and repository conversions.

Troubleshoot BODS Job Server, Access Server, Management Console, and Designer-related issues.

Investigate job failures, performance bottlenecks, connectivity issues, and repository inconsistencies.

Support root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.

Work closely with infrastructure, database, SAP Basis, and application teams during upgrade activities.

Administration & Maintenance

Install, configure, and maintain SAP BODS environments.

Manage repositories, security settings, users, and access controls.

Configure Job Servers, Repository Managers, and Data Services Management Console.

Monitor system health, performance, and ETL execution.

Performance Optimization

Tune ETL jobs and data flows for improved performance.

Optimize source and target database interactions.

Identify and resolve resource utilization issues impacting job execution.

Documentation & Compliance

Create upgrade runbooks, migration plans, technical documentation, and support procedures.

Maintain upgrade and migration reports.

Ensure adherence to organizational change management and governance standards.

Required Skills

Technical Skills

Strong experience in SAP BusinessObjects Data Services (BODS) administration and development.

Hands-on expertise in BODS upgrades and repository migrations.

Experience upgrading BODS from legacy versions to newer releases.

Strong SQL and database skills (Oracle, SQL Server, SAP HANA, Sybase, etc.).

Experience with Linux and Windows server environments.

Repository upgrade issue resolution.

Job execution failure analysis.

Metadata migration troubleshooting.

Database connectivity issue resolution.

Performance tuning and optimization.

Log analysis and root cause identification.

Preferred Skills

Experience with SAP BW, SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA integrations.

Knowledge of SAP Information Steward.

Experience with SAP Basis and server administration.

Familiarity with automation and scripting (Shell, PowerShell, Python).

This person will be responsible for executing the BI Data services upgrade from 4.3 to 2025 version across the towers. Some with deep SAP BI experience is required for this position.

Experience with SAP Basis and server administration.

Familiarity with automation and scripting (Shell, PowerShell, Python).
