Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Instructor at the School of Nursing and Midwifery.

Job Role / Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Nursing Education, you will be responsible for:

  • teach assigned theoretical and clinical courses in the Undergraduate Nursing Education programme, including lectures, assignments, examinations, and other learning activities
  • apply effective teaching and learning strategies aligned with course objectives and students’ learning needs
  • supervise students in clinical settings, facilitating the integration of theoretical knowledge into practice and ensuring clinical learning experiences meet course objectives and professional standards
  • develop and maintain course grids, including curriculum content, teaching and learning strategies, assessment methods, and class schedules
  • contribute to curriculum development and review, incorporating current evidence, best practices, and innovative teaching methodologies to enhance student engagement and learning
  • develop and implement fair and objective assessment and evaluation methods for classroom and clinical instruction in accordance with SONAM and Aga Khan University policies
  • provide formative and summative feedback to students, promoting self-directed learning, inquiry, and the development of culturally relevant knowledge and practices
  • identify and address learning and course-related challenges, recommending appropriate strategies and seeking guidance from senior faculty or supervisors when required
  • serve as an academic advisor to undergraduate students, supporting their academic progress and professional development
  • participate in research activities, including serving as a Co-Investigator with senior colleagues and contributing to research dissemination
  • participate in SONAM committees, meetings, workshops, and programme-related activities, contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of the programme
  • maintain confidentiality and security of student records, assessment materials, and advisement information in accordance with University policies
  • contribute to quality improvement and programme development initiatives within Undergraduate Nursing Education

Requirements:

You should have

  • a masters degree (MScN- with clinical expertise /MSc in MPH, Epi Bio, HPM) with Basic Nursing qualification as mandatory (BScN/Post-RN, Diploma in Nursing)
  • a minimum of 2 years of clinical community experience including teaching experience
  • published at least one research paper in an Indexed Journal in the last 2 years
  • an ability to demonstrate clinical competence as a professional nurse and an effective role model
  • sound conceptual knowledge of nursing/field of specialization and ability to integrate theory into practice
  • good teaching skills & knowledge of new teaching methodologies & practices
  • knowledge of current research methodologies, and an ability to initiate research
  • excellent written and verbal communication
  • good academic writing & presentation skills
  • fluency in English & Urdu and an ability to communicate in other regional languages would be an advantage
  • proficiency in the use of computers and related computer software packages
  • good conceptual and analytical skills
  • knowledge of educational leadership and management
  • excellent interpersonal skills & ability to work with teams
  • commitment to learning and growth and pursuing continuous improvement.
