In this role, you will…

The API Management Platforms team works on curating the functionality we expose to internal stakeholders for publishing Apigee API Gateway configurations using a custom-developed Self Service model. The scope of work for the Apigee Platform DevOps Leader includes establishing mastery of all facets of the deployment and maintenance of Apigee Hybrid in AWS China. This includes ensuring support for zero-downtime updates, ensuring the health of our systems, and visibility of status to technical and executive audiences. All processes should be automated and captured to source control, documented, and cross-trained as appropriate to the broader team. Scope also includes familiarization with the Apigee X Global SaaS API Gateway and its management, development and test of customized Apigee functionality through code and direct configuration in the Apigee console sufficient to participate in on-call Support Rotation to respond to any Apigee incidents raised.

Skills Knowledge & Expertise

In this role, you’ll need …

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficiency in speaking and writing English ( intermediate+ )
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related program; or equivalent experience in a related engineering discipline with 7+ years’ experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 7+ years of experience working in DevOps
• 5+ years of practical experience with AWS and 3+ years leading or owning the DevOps Mission and particularly with experience establishing zero-downtime upgrades and maintenance
• Programming knowledge in one or major languages such as Java, JavaScript, Python, and Ruby
• Experience with K8S or K8S-based orchestration tools
• Experience working with configuration and/or infrastructure management frameworks (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, etc.)
• Practical experience with modern container technologies (Docker)
• Experience deploying, troubleshooting, and maintaining 3rd-Party application software in AWS including databases and other components
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD concepts and best practices
• Strong experience with version control systems (Git)
• The ability to manage complex DevOps projects in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
• Self-driven results-oriented outlook, willing to take responsibility and accept accountability for action and able to work independently and interact with the platform team
• Comfortable with ambiguity as needs change regularly with a high degree of initiative and a sense of urgency
