Job Description

As a Senior Android Engineer, you will be on the team responsible for helping to bring our fanciful mobile products to life. You will collaborate with visual designers and other engineers to deliver apps that push the boundaries of what is possible in the mobile entertainment space. Your passion for building scalable, forward-thinking code is supported by a deep understanding of mobile app development and a curiosity for exploring new technologies.

Job Responsibilities

• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision in a team to define, design, implement, test, release rollout and support application features.
• Work with product owners to crystallize the technical needs during project planning and design phases.
• Decompose high-level requirements from business partners and develop lower level stories/tasks that can be readily assigned to himself and various engineers.
• Stay current with the newest mobile technologies; research new technologies and make recommendations on implementations.
• Metrics-driven and know how to track mobile performance over time and proactively address crashes/regressions.
• Ability to reduce tech-debt and have a plan to remove them from the system.
• Develop and maintain high performing, reusable Java and Kotlin code.
• Follow coding standards and guidelines with great attention to performance, scalability, and availability.
• Recruit, interview and hire other Android engineers as well as screen off-shore contractors to join our team.
• Coach and mentor junior engineers to provide guidance on coding and design best practices.
  
  

Qualifications

• Minimum 6+ years of Android development experience
• Minimum 2+ years of experience contributing to the Android architecture and design
• You can win the technical respect of the team with your own accomplishments, working in an agile, fast-changing environment, and leading the team to building a great product.
• A firm grasp of Computer Science fundamentals including object oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis.
• Deep programming experience in Java and Kotlin and at least one other language.
• Applied understanding of resource constraints including battery life, network availability, and other mobile-specific issues.
• Comprehensive understanding of Android Fundamentals; Activities, Views, Intents, Services, Content Providers, Fragments and AndroidManifest. xml.
• Extensive experience with and knowledge of client-server applications and RESTful APIs.
• Has shipped and maintained apps, knowing the ins and outs of Google Play’s submission process.

• An eye for design and 2D animation experience with Android Animations or using Lottie Animations.
• Has shipped to multiple Android app stores, like Amazon or SlideME.
• Maintained or have significantly contributed to a popular Android open-source project.
• Experience with C and C++ development, especially with the Android NDK.
• Experience with other mobile platforms such as iOS or mobile-web development frameworks.
• Experience with 3D development on mobile devices, using OpenGL ES, Metal, or Unity.
