Postgres Database Developer

Who We Are Looking For:


We are looking for a Database Developer who will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our cloud-based investment software, working directly with global clients to ensure optimal performance and availability of our applications. This client-facing role offers a unique opportunity to learn and work with multiple databases, gain hands-on experience in the investment domain, and collaborate across a variety of client environments.

Please note, this position requires 24/7 production support, including night shifts and weekends.

What you will do:

• Monitor and Optimize Databases: Ensure high availability and performance of database systems in a 24/7 production environment.
• Client Collaboration: Work directly with global clients to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, providing timely solutions.
• Develop SQL Solutions: Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts to support application development and reporting needs.
• Database Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement database structures that support our cloud-based investment software.
• Deploy Updates and Patches: Participate in the development, testing, and deployment of database updates, patches, and new releases.
• Automate Tasks: Use Linux shell scripting to automate routine database maintenance tasks.
• Technical Troubleshooting: Address database connectivity, performance, and data integrity issues.
• Expand Your Expertise: Learn and work with various databases, including Sybase and PostgreSQL, and gain exposure to Python scripting and REST APIs.
  
  
  

What Were Looking For:

• Experience: 4-5 years of hands-on experience working with Postgres, Sybase, and Linux in a database developer or administrator role.
• Technical Skills:
• Strong proficiency in Postgres and Sybase databases, including configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Solid experience with Linux shell scripting and system administration.
• Ability to automate tasks using shell scripting and Perl.
• Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical skills, capable of diagnosing and resolving complex issues quickly.
• Communication Skills: Ability to convey technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Availability: Flexibility to support a 24/7 production environment, including night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Teamwork: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Bonus Points:

• Certifications: PostgreSQL Certified Professional or similar certifications in database management or Linux systems.
• Multi-Database Experience: Familiarity with additional database systems beyond Postgres and Sybase is a plus.
