IT Network Solutions Principal Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain LAN, WAN, Firewalls, VPN and wireless networks.
• Need to handle network planning and architecture decisions to support business growth and scalability.
• Monitor network performance and availability and proactively resolve bottlenecks or outages.
• Implement and maintain network security policies, firewalls, and access control mechanisms.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues and escalations.
• Evaluate and integrate new networking tools, technologies, and best practices.
• Collaboration with IT, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams on network/security Issues
• Maintain up-to-date network documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures
  
  

Education / Qualifications

• BE/B. Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 10 years of experience in designing, monitoring and managing the complex network environment
• Expert-level knowledge of routing, switching, subnetting, VLANs, and TCP/IP protocols.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto, or equivalent network devices.
• Proficiency with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g., Wireshark, PRTG).
• Strong understanding of network security principles (firewalls, IPS/IDS, VPNs, NAC).
• Good to have understanding on cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid architectures.
• Experience with SD-WAN, VoIP, DNS/DHCP, load balancers, and network automation tools.
• Professional certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent.
• Experience with scripting or automation (Python, PowerShell).
• Knowledge of ITIL practices and change management processes.

Hexagon’s R&D Centre in India

Hexagon’s R&D Center in India is the single largest R&D hub for the company globally. Over 2,100 talented engineers and developers create innovation from this center that powers Hexagons products and solutions.

It was established with Hexagon’s acquisition of Intergraph, the first IT MNC in Hyderabad and has now grown to deliver innovations and create solutions for all business lines of Hexagon including Asset Lifecycle Intelligence, Safety Infrastructure & Geospatial, Geosystems, Mining, Manufacturing Intelligence and Autonomous Solutions. It also hosts a few dedicated services teams for global implementation of Hexagons products.

This job opening is for the role at core Hexagon’s R&D Center in India comprising of 450 colleagues.
