Role Overview:

The Finance Data and Reporting function is a critical function within EQ as part of our data and reporting transformation journey. The function has a diverse mix of BAU and Project Activities. Due to increased demands, we require a junior support into the team to assist with several critical activities.

The Data Analyst is a varied role and will give the candidate exposure to a variety of modern business tools.

Core Duties/Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

Profitability Support

  • Updating and performing client and product profitability activities in line with the process (Runbook) timelines through the manipulation and update of large external (excel / CSV) data sources.
  • Administer, monitor and manage data in the Client and Product Profitability Tool, including analytical reviews, reconciliations.
  • Working with various stakeholders across the organisation to identify and support improvements to increase the accuracy and quality of outputs.

Data Quality Monitoring

  • Production of Monthly Data KPI’s using the Workday tools.
  • Updating KPI definition(s)
  • Monitor and audit data quality, including identifying, evaluating, and implementing capabilities to support data validation and improved at source coding.
  • Monitoring of the Worktag and other data policy documents.

Workday Reporting Monitoring

  • Identify business requirements, specify reporting requirements and following training develop Workday reports. Act as a support for experience Chennai Staff.
  • Monitoring Use of Finance Reports, identifying duplicates, low usage reports.

Ad-Hoc Project / Analysis Support

  • Various Ad-hoc support typically being able to methodically work through medium to complex problems, map out solutions in excel and then either build or test the output.
  • Be able to reasonably understand the key finance data tools (Workday Accounting Centre, Prism) and logically work through formulas and SQL code. Training will be given.
  • Identifying improvements to KPI’s and Data Drivers including modelling what these looks like and building in the right teams

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following experience skills and behaviours:

Experience

  • Overall, 5+ years of experience in finance with minimum of 2+ years in data analyst role.
  • Experience of data ingestion, complex rules application and validating outputs
  • Experience of solving output problems by using data and facts to identify the likely source of the issue
  • Strong Analytical and Data gathering skills. Experience of using and manipulating high volume of data is essential
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; familiarity with data query/data management tools is desired.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to persuade and influence
  • Knowledge of Workday an advantage.
  • Ability to methodically walk though complex problems, getting to the route cause and proposing solutions

Education / Qualifications:

  • University Qualified, MBA, CA/CWA Intermediate.
  • Financial accountancy experience including UK GAAP within multi-national organisation will be an advantage, but not necessary.
  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Data Analytics / Data Mining Qualifications would be advantageous.
