Manager Internal Financial Controls Framework

Job Summary

The purpose of the role is to work on the process and controls workstream of the UK SOx programme to document key Finance and Operations processes identified as part of scoping work (which has been completed) and to identify and embed key controls within the business-as-usual (“BAU”) working environment. The successful candidate will be working with a combination of external management consultants, technology teams to identify IT automated controls supporting processes, GFS (Chennai, Bangalore) and GBS (Malaysia) staff as well as business function led teams in UK and Singapore

Key Responsibilities

Strategy

• Support the delivery of the Process and Controls SOx workstream – take ownership of processes assigned to candidate for mapping. Assist with SOx Programme Manager governance requirements including the preparation of status updates and provision of supporting artefacts that will then be disseminated to senior stakeholders
  
  

Business

• Coordinate process updates so they reflect recent changes in business activity
• Coordinate with all business areas to maintain a complete and accurate controls listing
• Review appropriateness of existing key controls
• Coordinate with process owners to maintain clear, concise controls processes and documentation (Risk Control Matrix, process flowcharts, controls testing procedures)
• Ensure key controls are designed such that the testing and assurance activities meet the requirements of the Finance / Group Operational Risk teams as well as external auditor requirements
• Work with technology to ensure the Group's IT control framework meets SOx compliance requirements with respect to processes that are being mapped
• Work with external consultants to establish and then embed global standards for process documentation
• Serve as a liaison between key stakeholders (e.g., senior management, finance teams and external auditors)

• Ability to understand and map business processes and an ability to define key controls that support the process. Previous experience of process mapping would be advantageous.
• Data led with ability to set and to interpret metrics, dashboards, and report to measure success
• Able to work in a flexible and agile way
• Good eye for detail and with a strong focus on Controls and compliance to policies and procedures.
• Basic understanding of business processes and end-to-end linkage between different teams
• Ability to form effective relationships with key stakeholders.

Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent
• Qualified accountant, preferably with a Financial Services background
• Experience of working in a financial control, Product Control or Operations environment
• Experience of working with on/offshore teams in a remote manner
• Extensive understanding and reasonable working experience in different financial and accounting systems
• Experience of working in a global organisation in a matrixed environment.
• Prior experience of working on projects/ delivering new business-as-usual initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a service centre team
