We are seeking a talented Software Engineer II to join our Cloudera Data Platform team. In this role, you will contribute to building and enhancing the next generation of enterprise data management and analytics solutions that power mission-critical workloads for Fortune 500 companies worldwide.

As a Software Engineer II you will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain features for Cloudera Data Platform components, including data services, management capabilities, and infrastructure.
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code in Java, Python, Go, or Scala.
  • Build scalable distributed systems that handle petabyte-scale data workloads.
  • Develop RESTful APIs and microservices for CDP services.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.


We’re excited about you if you have:

  • 2-4 years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one: Java, Python, Go, or Scala.
  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
  • Experience with distributed systems concepts and cloud-native architectures.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle and version control (Git).
  • Apache projects such as Spark, Hive, HBase, Kafka, or Impala.
  • Understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.


You may also have:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) or CDH.
  • Knowledge of data governance tools like Apache Atlas or Apache Ranger.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
  • Contributions to open-source projects.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Understanding of security principles (authentication, authorization, encryption).
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
