Performance Tools Developer

Introduction

The IBM Z Software Performance team is responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing stress workloads/benchmarks on the IBM Z and LinuxONE systems to ensure these systems meet customer expectations.

There are many tools/automation scripts developed to carry out performance environment setup/configuration, performance measurements, capturing various data points, storing them in a common database, presentation of data, analysis of the captured data and finally visual presentation of multiple comparisons.

As a tools developer, you will design, create new tools, and enhance and maintain the existing tools. During this one has to collaborate with various stakeholders in the performance team, understand the usage of the tool, pain points of the users, and accordingly bring in new changes to the tools to make the user comfortable and accomplish the task whatever they want to.

Your Role And Responsibilities

Development and support of critical internal tools used for detailed analysis of IBM Z hardware and software performance. Study and understand existing tools source code and build process. Enhance these tools to resolve issues as needed and provide updates needed for each new IBM Z hardware model. Design solutions to modernize and enhance useability of these tools over time.

Preferred Education

Masters Degree

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

Experience - 5-8 years as a Software Developer, Full stack (front and back end)

Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or computer engineering.

Proficiency in Java , object-oriented programming principles, Eclipse RCP(Rich Client Platform) and Eclipse Plugin development

Experience with building, debugging, and maintaining Java applications

Familiarity with software development best practices, including version control (e.g., Git), unit testing, and CI/CD pipelines

Working knowledge of JavaScript, React, Node.js is a plus.

Experience with the application of agile concepts and good presentation skills

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

Master degree in information technology, computer science, computer engineering

Basic understanding of microprocessor concepts such as instruction sets, counters, and system-level behavior is a strong plus

Knowledge of multithreading and performance optimization

Experience with any frameworks (e.g., Spring) is an advantage but not mandatory.

Ability to learn and understand detailed internal IBM Z Performance metrics.
