Job Summary

To support the Risk Management activities across the Chief Data Office (CDO), the Manager role focuses on ensuring proper risk management activities supporting the Bank’s agenda in growing trust with clients and regulators and maximizing risk reduction, resilience, policy, and regulatory compliance. Over time, the role will evolve into a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in data governance, contributing to the development and implementation of a comprehensive data governance framework. This position offers a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in both risk management and data governance within a dynamic data driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Management Responsibilities

  • Conduct risk assessments of internal data and privacy management processes and controls,
  • Lead internal reviews to ensure compliance with internal policies, standards, and regulatory requirements,
  • Support the design and periodic review of departmental risk management guidelines,
  • Assist stakeholders in defining remediation actions to address identified deficiencies,
  • Collaborate with 1st and 2nd line of defence (LoD) colleagues to develop and implement robust internal controls for group-wide processes and tools,
  • Ensure controls align with the organization’s enterprise risk management framework and industry best practices,
  • Contribute to the design of Business Intelligence (BI) and reporting solutions,
  • Drive global initiatives to automate and streamline risk management processes,
  • Promote risk management awareness and its benefits across the organization.

Data Governance Responsibilities

  • Support development and implementation of the organization’s data governance framework,
  • Support definition of data governance guidelines and procedures to align with the organization’s data strategy,
  • Engage with key stakeholders across the organization to promote the adoption of data governance practices and ensure alignment with business goals,
  • Act as a liaison between the CDO and other departments to drive data governance initiatives forward

Continuous Improvement And Innovation

  • Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in risk management and data governance,
  • Continuously evaluate and improve internal processes to enhance controls effectiveness and organizational standards,
  • Propose and lead initiatives to enhance the organization’s risk management and data governance capabilities and maturity over time.

Skills And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in risk management, data management, finance, computer science, or a related filed. A master’s degree or relevant certifications in risk management or data governance (e.g., CDMP, CRISC, CISA, CIPP, CIPM) is preferred,
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in risk management, data governance, data protection or a similar role within the financial services industry,
  • Practical knowledge of the EU GDPR and e-Privacy Directive would be an asset,
  • Strong MS PowerPoint and MS Excel skills and ability to provide information in usable formats,
  • High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and completeness,
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written skills - ability to present complex information clearly and concisely,
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and projects efficiently,
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize various applications and business intelligence/database tools.
