Associate Lead, Software Engineering

Location: Bangalore - India

Job Description

We are looking to hire an Associate Lead who will lead a team of passionate software engineers, while spending 70% of his/her time as an individual contributor. The applicant should be someone who has strong hands-on development experience in Salesforce platform (SFDC) to effectively collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs while guiding, mentoring and coaching his/her own direct reports who may be part of various other project / scrum teams and technology backgrounds. The ideal aspirant should understand the software development lifecycle and agile methodology practices to be a strong coach/guide to their team. The Associate Lead will perform other duties as assigned, that are in line with the role’s responsibilities and are required for the business. Along with technical expertise, this role involves the following people management responsibilities:

  • Regular team connects and one-one meetings with the team members.
  • Regular interactions with Business Partners for Team management, feedback collection and to liaise on work delivery matters.
  • Conducting performance reviews via check-in conversations
  • HR policy compliance (leave and discipline)
  • Conflict resolution
  • Mentoring, coaching and development of team members as necessary
  • Participation in all recruitment activities of the team
  • Career progression guidance and support professional development plan

This role transcends organizational and geographical boundaries as it aims at supporting and enabling the various divisions of the Herman Miller business across the globe.

Overall responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of software developers.
  • Work assignment, distribution, task estimation, goal planning and conducting performance reviews as per company policy.
  • Empowering team members with skills to improve their confidence, product knowledge, and communication skills.
  • Develop, implement, maintain or test select technology customizations, applications, extensions, solutions and/or integrations as part of their individual contribution.
  • Participate in the planning/analysis of business requirements for system changes and enhancements.
  • Active participation through all phases of the development lifecycle.
  • Remain current with select technologies and best practices

Requirements

  • 7-9 years of hands-on experience developing applications in a large-scale enterprise environment; preferred expertise in Salesforce platform.
  • Experience working on an Agile development team preferably using SCRUM.
  • Experience with software development with both desktop and web applications is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving and systems analysis skills to deal with a varied workload and be responsive to the needs of the business.
  • Understands the necessity of and contributes to efficient process implementation. Has attention to detail and a penchant for quality
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and consult (providing options with pros, cons and risks) around all key technical decisions during project delivery.
  • Ability to effectively use office automation, communication, software and tools currently used in the HMI office environment
  • This role will work in the UK shift, but the individual could be requested to work in the US shift on rare occasions to support the business during a critical issue or for any releases/migrations that maybe scheduled.
  • Aspirants need to be self-starters and have a drive for success
  • Ability to participate in multiple projects & tasks and priorities in a healthy work environment
  • Ability to take direction, constructive criticism, and work to specified deadlines
  • Adhere to process and procedures defined for the role, the team, and the organization
  • Certified on one or more of the core technology areas of work is a plus.
  • Personality traits should include the ability to scale down to the level of freshers and juniors as well at a technical level and to be able to connect and build a strong relationship of trust and confidence through demonstrated expertise
