The Payment Products Development (PPD) – Authorization Services Test Engineering (aka VIP TE) team supports the core VisaNet Integrated Payment (VIP) System which is the heart of making Visa the best way to pay and be paid for everyone, everywhere. The team handles worldwide Business Enhancement Releases, quarterly, monthly and weekly projects, as well as multiyear infrastructure projects that are deployed onto an IBM mainframe application running on z/TPF (z/Transaction Processing Facility). We also support and work with other peer Test Engineering organizations to support integration, downstream and end-to-end testing to ensure no defects adversely affect the VIP systems

Software Engineer in Test Engineering

As a Software Engineer in VIP TE, you will be part of a talented team that works on mission-critical payment applications and delivers quality products, services and solutions using best-in-class processes, methodologies, and technology with our worldwide workforce. The TE community at Visa is committed to leveraging innovative technology solutions to enhance software quality and accelerate the time-to-market of different product platforms.

You will be responsible for validating and verifying the overall functionality and performance of a complete and fully integrated software solution ensuring that the software developed meets the specified requirements and if it is suitable for delivery to the end-users with an innate desire to code, automate and remove repetitive and manual tasks to improve efficiency and engineering productivity. Following secure SDLC standards, you love to design and develop highly capable, best-in-class test products, tools, frameworks and solutions using a variety of technologies such as mainframes (z/TPF, MVS etc.), mainframe based legacy programming languages (e.g. REXX) to open-source object-oriented programming languages, web technologies, microservices etc., finally ensuring the highest quality documentation for each solution developed. Creative thinking is in your DNA, and you are passionate about identifying innovative solutions to solve newer, complex test engineering problems while also ideating and exploring options to continually improve existing solutions (test products, tools and frameworks).

In this role, you will be actively involved in value-based manual and exploratory testing in addition to regular systematic functional and regression testing, risk identification, configuration management, production deployment and support. These will be an integral part of your daily job. Your unwavering passion for ensuring quality and focus on advancing product excellence will help you to think through complex business scenarios, product specifications, and development and/or system designs to find architectural gaps, edge cases and defects in code. Responsibilities

1. Test Products Development / Test Tools Development
   1. Ideate and use innovative approaches to build and implement scalable, reusable test automation frameworks / new test infrastructure, improve existing test infrastructure to increase efficiency and productivity in test case generation, test coverage, test execution, problem detection and reporting
   2. Strong programming skills and willingness to code using mainframe-based programming languages (such as REXX, Assembler etc.) and open-source object-oriented programming languages, web technologies, microservices etc., databases (e.g. IBM DB2) and SQL queries etc., depending on departmental needs
   3. Contribute to all phases of SDLC during Test Tools development (Test Automation)
   4. Be ready to explore and use API testing software such as SOA suite, SOAP UI, Postman, REST Client etc., Selenium or similar software testing framework, automation testing tools such as TestNG, JSON and XML Parsers, Cucumber etc., CI/CD though Jenkins or similar, GitHub and other Tools such as JIRA etc.
   5. Marshall industry standard coding, design patterns, testing and best practices within Visa
   6. Proactively assess emerging technologies and evaluate the adoption thereof into the organization; Conduct POCs for technology and tools evaluation to ensure they are good fit for Visa’s requirements

1. Mainframe Testing / Manual Testing
   1. Contribute to all phases of STLC; Design and develop comprehensive test plans, test designs and test cases from business requirements and conceptual documents to test Visa’s products and services; Efficiently execute the same across all functional areas, products, and solutions
   2. Test code manually as well as by using in-house test tools and automation suites running on mainframe VMs (Virtual Machines), desktop and web servers to be more efficient and effective
   3. Collaborate and work with Development, System Architecture and Product teams, as members of Waterfall or Agile teams, to address coding errors or design gaps
   4. Analyze and report test results clearly to project stakeholders for speedy resolution; Report project status, highlight risks and issues to Project Managers and TE Management; Provide solutions and options
   5. Adhere to standard processes, tools, and metrics to deliver large-scale projects from inception to conclusion that meet quantifiable business objectives
   6. Coordinate and support integration, end-to-end testing with peer Test Engineering groups to ensure seamless code releases

c) Proficiency in at least one programming language or technology including, but not limited, to C/C++, C#, .NET, Java, Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Web Technologies, etc.

d) Knowledge of SDLC and STLC, development and test engineering processes and methodologies

e) Knowledge of ISO 8583, SOAP / XML, JSON etc. messages (if any) will be a big plus
