Job Description

The role of an Assistant Credit Manager is pivotal within the financial operations of an organization. Tasked with aiding the primary Credit Manager, this position involves ensuring the creditworthiness of new and existing clients, while also managing the credit policies and practices of the company. An Assistant Credit Manager must be proficient in risk assessment and adept at developing strategies that minimize credit risk while maximizing business revenue. As a liaison between clients and the company's financial decision-makers, they must possess outstanding analytical and communication skills. This position plays a critical role in maintaining financial stability and supporting the overall profitability of the organization by efficiently managing credit lines and ensuring prompt payment from clients.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing credit policies and procedures.
  • Analyze the creditworthiness of potential and existing clients using financial data.
  • Prepare detailed risk assessment reports for presentation to senior management.
  • Monitor key accounts to ensure timely payment and minimal overdue balances.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer needs and offer solutions.
  • Manage and update records on all accounts, capturing changes in credit status.
  • Support the negotiation of repayment plans or adjustments to credit terms.
  • Conduct regular reviews of customer credit limits and adjust as needed.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior credit staff and team members.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and changes in credit management practices.
  • Coordinate with finance departments to balance credit and financial strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with company and legal standards in credit management activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in credit management or financial analysis.
  • Proven expertise in evaluating credit risk and managing credit lines.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a strong attention to financial detail.
  • Proficiency with credit management software and financial reporting tools.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to interact with clients effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Solid understanding of credit laws and regulations affecting the industry.
  • Demonstrated capacity to handle stressful situations and meet tight deadlines.
