System Administrator (225-1014)

A System Administrator plays a crucial role in maintaining and managing an organization’s computer systems and networks. This position involves ensuring the smooth operation of IT services and infrastructure, including hardware, software, and network resources. System Administrators are responsible for deploying, configuring, maintaining, and monitoring systems to ensure high levels of availability and security. They also perform disaster recovery operations, protect critical information, and handle backup strategies. As key problem solvers, System Administrators diagnose and resolve technical issues, plan system upgrades, and ensure the implementation of best practices in IT management. Their role is central in supporting the technological framework of an organization, ensuring that all systems meet the necessary business needs and security requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support the organization's network and IT infrastructure efficiently and securely.
• Install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems, and applications.
• Monitor system performance and resource utilization to ensure optimal operation.
• Implement and manage backup and recovery procedures to prevent data loss.
• Administer user accounts and provide user support and training as necessary.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues to ensure minimal downtime.
• Plan and coordinate system upgrades and software installations as needed.
• Ensure all security protocols and procedures are followed to protect data and systems.
• Maintain documentation of configurations, processes, and procedures for maintenance and audits.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and implement backup operations as required.
• Communicate effectively with team members, management, and other departments on IT-related issues.
• Stay updated on the latest technology trends and recommend improvements to systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience as a System Administrator or in a similar technical role.
• Strong understanding of IT systems, networking, and security practices.
• Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms, including Linux and Windows.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues quickly.
• Experience with virtualization and cloud computing technologies is a plus.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration.
