Job Description

The Media Relations Coordinator plays a vital role within the communications department of any organization. This position requires a keen understanding of media strategies, strong communication skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with journalists and other media professionals. As a Media Relations Coordinator, you will be responsible for crafting and disseminating press releases, handling media inquiries, and coordinating interviews and press conferences. You will be the primary contact between the organization and the media, ensuring that the organization's message is accurately conveyed and well-represented. Your role will be crucial in shaping public perception and will require a proactive approach, keen attention to detail, and the ability to work under tight deadlines. Your organizational skills and strategic insight will directly contribute to the success of our media engagement strategies.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective media relations strategies to enhance organizational image.
  • Write, edit, and distribute engaging press releases to targeted media outlets.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the organization and media representatives.
  • Coordinate and arrange media interviews, briefings, and press conferences as needed.
  • Monitor and analyze media coverage and prepare reports for senior management.
  • Maintain a strong network of media contacts to facilitate efficient information dissemination.
  • Assist in the preparation of media kits and other public relations materials.
  • Respond promptly to media inquiries and manage media requests effectively.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align media communication with organizational goals.
  • Oversee the digital presence across media platforms and communication channels.
  • Train and support staff on effective media engagement techniques and practices.
  • Identify opportunities for media coverage and proactively pitch stories to journalists.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in media relations or public relations roles.
  • Proven track record of successful media strategy development and execution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain detailed and accurate records.
  • Proficiency in using media tracking and communication tools effectively.
