Job Description

An Inventory Control Specialist plays a crucial role in managing and maintaining the company’s inventory levels to ensure that they meet customer demands without incurring excess costs. This position requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of inventory management systems, and the ability to work cross-functionally with other departments such as purchasing, sales, and warehouse operations. The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for monitoring inventory levels, coordinating with suppliers and logistics personnel, and utilizing inventory management software to forecast and optimize inventory requirements. Success in this role reflects effective planning, strong communication skills, and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that products are available when and where they are needed while minimizing waste and maximizing operational efficiency.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze inventory levels to maintain optimal stock balance at all times.
  • Develop and implement inventory control procedures and best practices for efficiency.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of quality inventory and supplies.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions including receipts and shipments.
  • Utilize inventory management systems to conduct regular stock audits and reconciliations.
  • Forecast inventory needs based on sales trends and business objectives.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to align inventory levels with demand forecasts.
  • Identify and resolve any discrepancies in stock levels or documentation promptly.
  • Prepare detailed inventory reports for management to support data-driven decisions.
  • Work with logistics to optimize inventory distribution and minimize storage costs.
  • Implement loss prevention strategies to minimize shrinkage and improve accuracy.
  • Train and supervise inventory staff to enhance operational proficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in inventory control or supply chain management.
  • Proficient with inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret large volumes of data critically.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-department collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within a team environment.
